Succinct and highly informative. It is unfortunate that his own treatment of “Lordship and Bondage” largely ignores Harris, 2 along with much other scholarship.
Beiser, like most Hegel scholars, describes Hegel’s motivation as the attempt to overcome the frustrations of Kantian thinking and the disappointments of the Enlightenment.
