I’m currently reading this book, with a great degree of interest. Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account. Techniques for using Perl to recognize, parse, transform, and filter data.
And, it shows you how to build your own parsers to process data of arbitrary complexity.
Many years ago, I wrote a book mungimg Data Munging with Perl. If you need to work with complex data formats it will teach you how to do that and also how to build your own tools to process these formats. I thought that some of it was still pretty good.
I’ve accumulated witu or 6 books on Perl by this time, mostly very good, but a couple were quite bad to say the least, so I’ve decided to be more selective and do a little more research before I spend any of my hard-earned cash from now on reading these book reviews, looking at the publishers website, authors background, etc.
I’ve already recommended this to my fellow work-mates high praise indeed!

My route through the book is the introduction, appendix B, and then sequentially through the chapters. PerlMonks does get a couple of mentions tho’ it seems that only one made it into the index.
I’ve been writing Wih hacking at it really for about six months now, and this is just the sort of stuff that I need to improve my skills. If you are interested in learning where to buy this book in a language other than English, please inquire at your local bookseller.
